This training module aims to help instructors working in post-secondary settings to identify and compare features of four popular digital competence frameworks: T-PACK, UNESCO's ICT framework, JISC's Digital Capabilities frameworks, and the European Commission's DigCompEdu framework. A fifth digital competence framework, Flexicomp, is also described in this module- this framework was developed in partnership with instructors and learners in four European countries, and is aimed specifically at instructors working in the VET sector, and-or with vulnerable learners. Discussion / Debate on Post-Secondary Debt Loads
Unrestricted Use
CC BY
Rating
0.0 stars

This activity allows the students to discuss the burden of student loans and financing post-secondary education. An additional aspect to this activity is the mental health aspect regarding heavy debt loads for post-secondary. The discussion could include a debate on student loans, who is responsible and can a student "walk away" from this debt? Should the government pay for post-secondary education for everyone? If yes, would you be willing to pay more taxes for free post-secondary education?

Students often finance their post-secondary education, which can be very expensive over many years. How does a student pay this debt back if they are unable to finish their program, especially in expensive programs such as medicine or law?

Description: Don’t be fooled by food messaging is a media literacy embedded health unit that takes the health goals of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and adds some critical thinking skills and communication skills. In food marketing young people are surrounded by persuasive claims meant to influence and manipulate their eating behavior. Students will explore some of the techniques and strategies food marketers use to influence their eating behavior to better understand how it impacts their own food choices. Within the PE program students will discuss how food choices, levels of consumption and physical activity levels influence health and wellness. Body image/healthy weight will be incorporated into this content. The culminating projects require students to work collaboratively to synthesize their new learning while using a variety of strategies to create their own healthy choices messaging production projects.
