They concern her tribulations and successes as a student of piano, composition, and organ. The second diary, with related letters, spans 1940 to 1946. The opening of the diary concerns Demessieux’s last semester of study at the Paris Conservatory; the bulk of the diary describes Demessieux’s collaboration, as organist and composer, with Marcel Dupré, and quotes from lengthy conversations she had with him. The third section consists of letters and travel diaries from Demessieux’s 1950s North American recital tours, and is a revealing glimpse of the trials of being a touring organist in a country very different from the European countries in which she ordinarily toured. Interspersed with the translations are chapters of introduction and commentary. The chapters introducing each translation describe the biographical, historical, and musical contexts of its content. The chapter following each translation comments on the subject matter, reading between the lines to demonstrate how the written words provide clues to more than first meets the eye.

The translations are annotated with notes. A Digital Project Preservation Plan is designed to help with organizing preservation efforts for digital projects. Initially drafted as a companion guide meant to fill the gap on best methods for preserving digital scholarship or digital humanities projects, it can also be applied to digital projects outside the humanities. This preservation plan is most beneficial to those digital humanities (DH) project creators who need guidance on how to start a digital project with preservation in mind. Although the DH community has shared resources and case studies, the examples available tend to focus on DH development, and less on DH preservation. These resources are also located in disparate locations. The Digital Project Preservation Plan is a singular guide, focusing on DH preservation, as a starting point with references to more resources and related DH practices. This is a working document, available to practitioners in whole or part; ideally, it will be used in the early stages of project planning and consulted and revised regularly. The preservation infrastructure should be designed and built as a collaborative effort from the beginning of the project. La dosis de 564 kg silicio ha-1 fue superior para altura y peso de 1,000 granos. La dosis de 282 kg silicio ha-1 es recomendada debido a su control de la enfermedad similar al resto de tratamientos y tener al tener una rentabilidad de 5% superior en comparación con el control.

The world’s climate is out of balance, and in this state, is driving ecosystem changes that few of us have seen in our lifetimes. What is the scale of these changes now and into the future? How will this affect the way you work and live? How can we adapt? The practice of ecological restoration can point the way to positive actions at the ground level.

This online learning session will bring into focus the practice of restoration of ecosystems at the local and regional level in British Columbia through a series of presentations delivered by faculty from UVic’s School of Environmental Studies, First Nations speakers and Elders, and professionals whose work intersects with ecology in diverse ways. We start by rooting our introduction in Indigenous perspectives on how the local ecosystems are changing. We discuss basic principles and practices of ecological restoration on the ground. We then explore the complexity of British Columbia’s biodiversity, basic drivers of change in ecosystems, and the challenges they present in different types of ecosystems. We look at how climate change models help us understand what the future scale of change might be, and we finish up by discussing how ecological restoration principles can apply to different disciplines.

This course is part of the Adaptation Learning Network led by the Resilience by Design Lab at Royal Roads University. The project is supported by the Climate Action Secretariat of the BC Ministry of Environment & Climate Change Strategy and Natural Resources Canada through its Building Regional Adaptation Capacity and Expertise (BRACE) program. El presente artículo presenta los resultados de una investigación que analiza el nivel de calidad reflexiva de los profesores, en el marco de un programa innovador de formación docente que introduce la práctica reflexiva, mediada y gestionada a través de un portafolio digital. Aporta a la discusión sobre nuevos usos de un portafolio digital para mejorar los procesos de reflexión por parte del profesorado y sobre modelos alternativos de formación docente; analiza los diferentes niveles de reflexión de los participantes, e identifica los obstáculos para lograr niveles de mayor profundidad. La metodología de investigación adoptada ha sidoun estudio instrumental de caso, en el marco de un programa de formación del profesorado universitario. Los resultados obtenidos muestran que el proceso reflexivo contribuye a una percepción positiva sobre la mejora de su desempeño, la planificación de sus clases y una mejor interacción con los alumnos, y que el uso del portafolio digital ha sido bien valorado para el desarrollo del proceso reflexivo propuesto. Asimismo, se identifican carencias, sobre todo en relación con los niveles de profundidad de la reflexión docente. Por último, se presenta una propuesta de indicadores para impulsar y evaluar el desarrollo reflexivo, basada en los hallazgos del estudio.
