In this video, Jonathan joins Charlie Donilon on his shark charter boat in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and learns about how shark tagging has shed light on the biology of and behavior of Blue sharks. Tagging has shown that these incredible swimmers actually migrate completely across the Atlantic ocean. Jonathan tries his hand at tagging a shark and then swims with Blue sharks. We also learn that Blue sharks are not nearly as vicious as they have been reputed to be, and the divers are actually able to pet the sharks! The text for the adapted story “Bobby’s Lost Toy” was written by a team of educators during a short course on “Application of Open Educational Resources” in May 2022. The course was developed and delivered by the USAID LAC Reads Capacity Program and hosted by the University of the West Indies, Jamaica.

The British Library’s collections on Flickr Commons offer access to millions of public domain images, which we encourage you to explore and re-use. The release of these collections into the public domain represent the Library's desire to improve knowledge of and about them, to enable novel and unexpected ways of using them, and to begin working with researchers to explore and interpret large scale digital collections.

The first set we have added come from a British Library Labs project dubbed the Mechanical Curator, which located more than a million images from within our digitised collection of over 65,000 books from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Over time more public domain collections will be added.

Students will learn to know and list the difference between bugs and insects by playing a matching game for the first task and then watching and reading a video for the second task and listing 3-5 facts about something new they have learned. Students will also list 2 bugs and 2 insects, which will show their knowledge in the difference between the two.

This resource is a publishing of 64 drawn illustrations. The images were initially created for an art installation by Kellie Bornhoft (kelliebornhoft.com). The artist wishes to share the images under CC BY-NC 4.0 for educational and non-commercial use. The intention is to bring awareness to these endangered species.
