This lesson explores the most recent constitutional expansion of voting rights: extending them to people between 18 and 21 years of age. Students will read the 26th Amendment and learn about its history. They will view an NBC report from Nov. 5, 2008, that explains how important the youth vote was to the election of Barack Obama. Finally, they will examine the results of a recent study showing that young voters have very different concerns than older voters, and hypothesize about how young voters might affect elections in 2012 and beyond.

This interactive workshop explores youth adult partnership as a model for engaging youth, how to prepare and support youth for participation in meetings, and techniques for facilitating meetings which involve youth.

This YouTube channel features a series of videos recorded in 2014 by Hayley Smith, a university student who studied in Jordan in 2014. Before her trip to Jordan, Smith conducted a survey of K-12 Arabic teachers, asking them to recommend topics for the videos that would be helpful in teaching Arabic. The result is this series of videos, arranged in playlists that follow each individual participant through different scenarios and questions. The short clips are wonderful for exposing Arabic students to colloquial Arabic, spoken in daily situations and at a natural pace. This is a great way for students to see what young Jordanians are like, and to learn about their interests, their studies, and their relationships. Also on this channel are other playlists of popular videos, such as Arab Idol, which have been edited down for classroom use.

Hearts of Men have been running community-based mentoring programmes, bringing older and younger men together in support circles in the Western Cape from 2001 to 2021. The approach and the materials included in this manual have been tried and tested in many different communities, working with diverse groups of men/young men, aged between 15 and 70 years. SIx experiential training courses for men and young men are covered in Parts One and Two of this manual. YOUC project for Promoting Youth Participation in Local Communities is aimed at young activists, youth workers, educators and organizations who want to promote the empowerment, initiative and civic participation of young people at risk of marginalization.

The project is based on a methodology and a set of tools to promote youth participation and active citizenship at the local level of young people in difficulty supported by groups of young activists and volunteers, as well as educators from associations in each partner country.

YOUC project supports the capacity building of youth leaders and educators by providing them with an effective methodology and tools to reach marginalized youth and involve them in local civic participation. For the same reason, the project focuses on the horizontal management of the professional development of youth workers.

YOUC aims to:
• Promote the activation of NEETs
• Improve the level of key competences and skills of young people, in particular the European key competence social and civic responsibility
• Promote the participation of young people in civil society
• Promote inclusion and solidarity

"Baseball pitchers aren’t born knowing how to throw a ball – it takes years of training and practice to hone this ability. Although prior studies have examined how throwing mechanics differ between youth and adult pitchers, no reports have followed the same group of individuals year after year to watch their skills develop. Now, a US-based research team has sequentially tracked young pitchers to identify the biomechanical changes that occur as a pitcher sharpens their skills. The researchers recruited kids from youth baseball leagues who were in their first season playing as pitcher. Each participant was asked to throw 10 full-effort fastballs from the pitching mound to home plate. Before throwing, the pitcher was outfitted with 23 retroreflective markers. The three-dimensional motions of these markers were tracked through 12 synchronized high-speed cameras..."
