Media literacy includes the practices that allow people to access, critically evaluate and create media. We intend to promote awareness of media influence and create an active stance towards both consuming and creating media. We want to develop receptive media capability to critically analyze messages, offer opportunities for students to broaden their experience of media, and help them develop generative media capability to increase creative skills in making their own media messages and also fight with fake news.

What is a Reflective Teacher? This short article will outline what a Reflective Teacher is and how to become one.

Born to poor sharecroppers in Texas, Bessie Coleman (1892-1926) was the first African American woman aviator, earning an international aviation license from the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale. Throughout her career as a daredevil stunt pilot in thrilling airshows, she consistently defied expectations and broke through racial and gender barriers to dazzle audiences and inspire future generations of Black American pilots, aviators, and astronauts. This lesson tells the story of Coleman’s life in the wider context of the “barnstorming” early days of flight and the rising opposition to racial segregation exemplified by newspapers like the Chicago Defender.

"Best practice collection for gender balance and non-discrimination in career guidance" was developed in the frame of the Erasmus+ project „Online mentoring and Professional Peer Coaching Skills for Youth Training“. The project brings together the professionals from Romania, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Czech Republic with the aim to focus of the mentoring and career quidance in the field of nursing, teaching and social work of the young persons in search of a job and young professionals.
As their area of nursing, teaching and social work are based on the inter-relationship between the client and the professional, the stereotypes and biases plays crutial role on the both sides. And on the side of professional there exists one challenge on the top: their area of work is strongly connected with the vision of „care“, it´s stereotypes and consequences into the atribution of the female-male division of work. Feminisation of the sector of education and care is evident in every of the involved country – the statistics are used to show the cases in respective countries.
The main theoretical concepts are supported by the relevant statistics from respective partner countries. To underline their relevance to the specific sector of social care, nursing and teaching the specific section (section 4) focus on national statistics. The the question of gender balance has also implication to the labour market as well as for conception of the politics and societal approach to the topic of equality itself. Section 5 determine basic knowledge of the importance of gender balance and it´s benefits for the society and organizational lebel.
Finally section 6 brought the attention to the best practices themselves. They are classified according their topic and focus. Firstly there are listed practices of reaching gender balance in nursing/teaching/social work itself. As examples shows, there is not many attention paid to the topic of non-discriminatory career quidance in the monitored areas. In the second part there are listed practices more widelly toutching this phenomena: non-discriminatory
approach and gender balance on employment market and public sphere.
The collection therefore has the role to rise the awareness about this topic not only between the young professionals, but also between the service care providers as employers who plays a significant role on the employment market. While the demographic situation is strongly associated with ageing trends and it´s impacts to the employability, it is necessery to bear in the mind, that it affects in the different ways men and in different ways women.

In this history lesson, students learn about the epic life and exemplary character of Biddy Mason, a woman who was born into slavery in the Deep South, walked to California as part of a pioneer caravan, fought for her freedom in court, and died a millionaire real-estate investor in Los Angeles. In addition to the highs and lows of Biddy’s dramatic life, this lesson asks students to study how she demonstrated the virtues of courage and charity, both in securing freedom for herself and her family and, later, using her fortune to invest in her community and provide relief to poor Californians of all races and religions.

Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin rely on blockchain technology and crypto mining, which consume massive amounts of electricity and have significant carbon footprints. The lack of transparency and regulation in the industry raises concerns about the economic, social, and environmental costs associated with crypto mines.

The Woodson Center Curriculum provides lesson plans, slide shows, and readings of significant moments in Black American history. Many of the biographies are of Black Americans often ignored by textbooks. The project seeks to highlight examples of excellence, resilience, and perseverance, in the Black community and among Black individuals while battling the realities of racism. 

This focused resource guide, "Black Lives in Astronomy," includes specific written and video resources about and by 25 black astronomers, as well as general materials to examine the history and issues facing black members of the astronomical community. It includes both older, established scientists and people early in their careers. It is aimed at the Astro 101 and amateur astronomer level, and thus does not include any technical materials. I hope this resource will give instructors and students examples of authentic black voices that can be shown in class or used in assignments.

This blog post shares the personal experiences of an educator reflecting on their networking journey from India to the USA. In the context of the United Nations Ocean Conference in Lisbon, co-hosted by the Governments of Kenya and Portugal, the Ocean Literacy Dialogues week hosted this 3-hour workshop which was composed of interactive sessions to provide training, information, and tools for educational authorities, policy-makers, and curriculum developers. The “Blue Curriculum: A Training Session” was organized considering the recently launched UNESCO publication “A New Blue Curriculum: A Toolkit for Policymakers” which aims to support Member States to include Ocean Literacy in the national curriculum frameworks and educational policies around the world. The workshop was organized by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC-UNESCO) in collaboration with the International Bureau of Education (IBE-UNESCO) and supported by AXA XL.

The Blue Lake Rancheria Tribe—a federally recognized Native American tribe in California—was one of 16 communities selected as a 2015–2016 Climate Action Champion by the Obama Administration for exceptional work in response to climate change.

The Tribe began its strategic climate action planning in 2008 and has become a regional leader in greenhouse gas reductions and community resiliency measures. To date, the Tribe has reduced energy consumption from 2008 levels by 35 percent and has committed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 40 percent by 2018, utilizing a range of approaches—including aggressive energy efficiency upgrades, developing on-site renewable energy (biomass, solar, fuel cells, grid battery storage), and switching to green fuels (electricity and biodiesel).

Having experienced the profound racial disparities in the rural South firsthand, writer and education reformer Booker T. Washington (1856-1915) dreamed of a school-building project for Black communities that could help begin to lift them out of poverty. In this history lesson, students examine Washington’s collaboration with philanthropist Julius Rosenwald (1862-1932), and learn how Washington’s hopeful dream slowly became the reality of nearly 5,000 new schools. Built in large part by the communities they served, Rosenwald schools were a ray of hope in the face of poverty and racial discrimination.
