This activity contains three case studies which allow students to evaluate situations that are considered when budgeting. The students will create budgets for the individuals in the cases as part of this assignment.
This activity uses mini cases to help develop some problem- solving skills in relation to budgeting. Situational analysis allows students to role play and help the person in the case figure out how to budget and deal with their financial decisions. Cases allow for students to role play in real life scenarios that they may experience in their future.
This is a full project that can be used in to meet standards around budgeting and money management. This usually takes the students about 5 hours to complete and it is very comprehensive to cover all future spending. The assignment requires the students to "screenshot" proof of items they found for their budget (and support each item with evidence). Students really enjoy this project (and adults have used it too for budgeting in real life!). Students may chose to have $0 spending on some items (pets, legal, etc.), but they should explain their reasoning for entering a zero. As well, students should enter savings into their budget (at least 10% of earnings).

Furthermore, our adaptation highlights Washington state policy that addresses wildfire awareness, prevention, and preventive measures.Please note the work of the Department of Health Epidemiologists in using data science to understand medical trends and the opportunity to plan health interventions. This is a strong career connection for our students.
Today, Andre is going to talk about the rise of Atari and with it the rise of the video game industry. So if you remember from last episode, we mentioned that the first arcade machine, Galaxy Game, happened to have a coin slot, but this was just the beginning. Nolan Bushnell, often considered the Father of the Video Game Industry, saw the opportunity for the commercialization of video games. Bushnell founded Atari and oversaw the development of its first game - Pong. And then, through some questionably ethical business strategies, Bushnell was able to get his machines into arcades all across the United States. But if this is all Atari had done, we probably wouldn’t be dedicating an entire episode to it. Atari also played a major role in getting video games into the home with the Atari 2600 console. Video games were becoming a part of peoples’ everyday lives and they were becoming a part of popular culture. But Atari wasn’t the only video game company in the 1970s, it wasn’t even the first. So we’re going talk about some of the other companies that took part in the war for a place in our living rooms next week!

Utilize knowledge and strategies to get the best possible financing terms (that meet their individual needs and budget) for a new or used car
Explain the difference between a car loan and lease as well as advantages and disadvantages of each
Have a backup plan if they find themselves unable to afford their car payments
