This resource is designed to walk students through the process of completing a research project in any field of study. It covers the earliest stages of brainstorming and discussing, continues through researching and compiling sources; writing, documenting, revising, and polishing a paper; and finally presenting the research topic to a wider audience in a professional manner. The focus is on MLA format, though the course could be modified for other formats.
The first unit is an introduction to the project. It asks students to draw on knowledge of issues affecting their own community and world to help generate discussion that could eventually lead to a research topic.

This includes the evaluation of social media posts, research into climate change issues, and an exploration of contemporary art and artists. The German Nazis were responsible for the systematic killing of millions of Jews. Hitler called it “The Final Solution to the Jewish Problem.” There were concentration camps set up throughout German controlled territories. This project will focus on the largest and most notorious camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau, located in German-controlled Poland. Anne Frank and her family were discovered and arrested in August 1944. In September 1944 they were sent from the Westerbork Camp in the Netherlands to Auschwitz-Birkenau. Anne’s father, Otto Frank, survived and was liberated from Auschwitz-Birkenau in January 1945.

This free online textbook is a one semester course in basic analysis. These were my lecture notes for teaching Math 444 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in fall 2009. The course is a first course in mathematical analysis aimed at students who do not necessarily wish to continue a graduate study in mathematics. A Sample Darboux sums prerequisite for the course is a basic proof course. The course does not cover topics such as metric spaces, which a more advanced course would. It should be possible to use these notes for a beginning of a more advanced course, but further material should be added.

Basic Electronics 2 covers capacitors and the transient capacitor charge and discharge process, inductors and the transient inductor storage and release process, sinusoidal properties, complex numbers and complex impedance, phasors, AC Ohm’s Law, series AC circuit analysis, parallel AC circuit analysis, and series-parallel AC circuit analysis. The text includes discussions of Kirchhoff’s Voltage Law, the AC Voltage Divider Rule, Kirchhoff’s Current Law, and the AC Current Divider Rule. Additionally the text covers use of AC voltmeters, AC ammeters, function generators, and oscilloscopes. These resources are meant to accompany a hands on lab with the guidance of an instructor.

This is a quick lesson for the beginning of the year for 8th-grade language arts teachers. It's a great mini-lesson if you need to fill three-five days while introducing short story elements at the start of the year. The story itself is very meaningful, and Jane Kaczmarek does a great job reading it aloud on YouTube. It is a high-engagement lesson because the students get to write about themselves while learning about the struggles of another. The text is not complex, so weaving in short story elements works very well here.

After reading page 10, chapter 2, and pages 30-33 in John Gardner's Grendel, students write about the different views we have of Grendel after reading Gardner's novel. Students research and write about a character who they feel is misunderstood like Gardner's Grendel. Students write about two traits they have because of the experiences they had in life, just like Grendel is the way he is in Gardner's novel because of his experiences. Students use MLA format for their works cited page and in-text citations.

This textbook provides a survey of statistical methods commonly used in the life sciences, an introduction to statistical theory, and significant exposure to the statistical software package SAS 9.4. The textbook is designed for graduate students and upper division undergraduates, and assumes some familiarity with mathematical notation, functions, and algebra. No previous courses in statistics are needed. For those interested in using the software package R, programs similar in function to the SAS ones are also provided. A unique feature of this textbook is the integration of statistical procedures and theory. Most introductory texts present the statistical procedures and a mechanistic explanation of how they work, without discussing the underlying theory. Some knowledge of this theory is essential for students in the life sciences, especially graduate students, and so the textbook uses likelihood theory to explain how parameters are estimated and statistical tests derived. The statistical models for ANOVA, regression, and other common procedures are also presented. These theoretical concepts are presented in both equation and graphical form. For detailed information on the topics covered in this textbook, see the Table of Contents file in Section 1.
