Students will learn about the different types of bridges and how they work. The lesson also includes a maker component where the students build a bridge.

This project is a makerspace focused STEM project. Students build a device that will stop a car that is attempting to break through a toll booth, border crossing, or other gate. Students build a model of their device and use an RC car to test it out.
Students will learn the basics of 3D modeling utilizing SketchUp Pro. Students first begin by observing the most unique building structures in the world. Then learn new skills and techniques through hands-on tutorials to learn how to create 3D models in SketchUp. Once armed with the basics, students will be tasked with creating a 3D replica of a building of their choice or one from their imagination.
This lesson goes along with a unit in which students will be studying specific countries. Students will identify an area of need in their country and create a solar device to help power a solution to that need.
