This page contains links to thirty-six stories children's stories written in Arabic. Many of the stories include morals or other teaching moments. Each page of every story has small illustrations for difficult words at the bottom to help make reading easier for both native and non-native speakers. The stories move from easy to more difficult. The stories are fully voweled.

This page offers 186 different children's stories written in Arabic. Topics range from scientific matters such as how to build a telescope to literature and folktales, including Indian folktales. Stories must be viewed using Java and users must click on the link to view the resource and its title. Many contain images and other illustrations. The intended age level of the reader varies from story to story.

This is a collection of children's stories that are linked to on the Books To Learn Arabic blog and are available for free download. There are 36 different books available that move up from grade 1 to grade 4, progressing in difficulty as the grade levels move up. A pictoral dictionary accompanies each page and teaches the meanings of some words in this way. When downloaded, the files come with an audio component so that the books can be read to you when the words are clicked on.

The goal of the Listening and Learning Strand is for students to acquire language competence through listening, specifically building a rich vocabulary, and broad knowledge in history and science by being exposed to carefully selected, sequenced, and coherent read-alouds. By the end of grade 2, students have learned all of the sound spelling correspondences in the English language and are able to decode written material they encounter. In addition to phonics, students also are taught spelling, grammar, and writing during the Skills Strand. A downloadable story "Kits Hats" with illustrations is provided for instruction.

In Writing 241/244, we will concentrate on the study and writing of realistic short fiction, with the purpose of stimulating your creativity, enhancing your analytical abilities, and improving your writing. Students write sketches and stories for class discussion and analysis, usually in the form of small group workshops. Students will also analyze professional stories to understand narrative tools, structural components, and stylistic choices through written analysis and small group discussion.

Educational Stories of Dictational Rules are sixteen stories and activities in slideshow format. These stories were made for students with learning disabilities. Short vowels, long vowels, the letter ta, double vowels, prepositions, and the letter hamza are some of the explained topics. Course Description
Focuses on writing short fiction for class discussion and analysis in a workshop setting. Explores the techniques, styles, and structures of the writings of established authors, as well as the creative writing process from development of an idea to revision of a manuscript.

Upon successful completion students should be able to:

o Read and analyze established authors in order to become familiar with the elements of fiction (eg. plot, dialogue, character, point of view).
o Write original fiction that effectively uses the elements of the craft, leading to the development and revision of at least one complete short story.
o Read peer fiction closely and analytically in order to contribute to peer workshops in a thoughtful and critical manner.

This activity is great for practicing ASL sentence structure Time-Topic-Comment. This activity provides students with new signs for idioms, and encourages them to be creative when coming up with their stories. Students will learn to create stories and practice presenting stories using idioms.

This subject investigates the special relation of women to several musical folk traditions in the British Isles and North America. Throughout, we will be examining the implications of gender in the creation, transmission, and performance of music. Because virtually all societies operate to some extent on a gendered division of labor (and of expressive roles) the music of these societies is marked by the gendering of musical repertoires, traditions of instrumentation, performance settings, and styles. This seminar will examine the gendered dimensions of the music - the song texts, the performance styles, processes of dissemination (collection, literary representation) and issues of historiography - with respect to selected traditions within the folk musics of North America and the British Isles, with the aim of analyzing the special contributions of women to these traditions. In addition to telling stories about women’s musical lives, and studying elements of female identity and subjectivity in song texts and music, we will investigate the ways in which women’s work and women’s cultural roles have affected the folk traditions of these several countries.
