In this collection, we are sharing the various assessment, design, and implementation materials created by a team at James Madison University to create faculty development opportunities to foster inclusive excellence. The intention of sharing these materials under creative commons license is to provide other organizations or institutions a starting place to engage in a valuable and deep process of identifying the needs of specific groups of faculty (in this case faculty from a public institution of higher education in the USA) in terms of supporting their knowledge, skills, and abilities to integrate practices and content that foster inclusive excellence. This content was developed in partnership with a faculty from the Assessment and Measurement department and Instructional Designers. Previous

Geospatial System Analysis and Design surveys the process of GIS design through critical reading/writing and collaborative discussion. Key topics in the course outline the broad range of current GIS systems, how they are designed and evaluated, and how emerging technologies may impact their design and implementation in the near future. In particular, students will develop a term-long project where they propose a realistic problem scenario that requires the skills and understanding required to effectively complete a geospatial system specification, design, and implementation. Students completing this course are able to develop a comprehensive system design plan that takes into account current technologies as well as emerging technology trends.

This Module underscores the importance of the general education teacher's collaborating with professionals and other individuals knowledgeable about the needs of students with visual disabilities (est. completion time: 1.5 hours).

The Open for Antiracism (OFAR) Program – co-led by CCCOER and College of the Canyons – emerged as a response to the growing awareness of structural racism in our educational systems and the realization that adoption of open educational resources (OER) and open pedagogy could be transformative at institutions seeking to improve. The program is designed to give participants a workshop experience where they can better understand anti-racist teaching and how the use of OER and open pedagogy can empower them to involve students in the co-creation of an anti-racist classroom. The capstone project involves developing an action plan for incorporating OER and open pedagogy into a course being taught in the spring semester. OFAR participants are invited to remix this template to design and share their projects and plans for moving this work forward.

Kelly Hammond, Open Educational Resources (OER) and Instructional Technology Adjust at CUNY School of Professional Studies, talks about the importance of developing a strategic introduction to the OER-DEIA Action Plan for K-12 District Implementation that provides users with critical information that gives them a solid foundation when beginning their OER-DEIA journey.  As she developed this section of the guide she reflected on her own OER journey and asked herself the guiding question, "What would I have needed to know in order to get there faster and more comfortably?"

Tracy Rains, Virtual Learning Specialist at Appalachia Intermediate Unit, talks about developing two key components of the OER-DEIA Action Plan for K-12 District Implementation:  The Collaboration Plan and the Educator and Staff Professional Learning Plan.  She provides insight into why both of these sections are critical to the success of any OER-DEIA initiative.
