Download this comprehensive, 60-page elementary unit that was co-developed by the Fast Plants Program and Emily Miller (ELA/science elementary science education specialist) who helped author the Next Generation Science Standards) as an exemplar for supporting three-dimensional learning. Developed in 2014, the lessons in this unit that fall during the time when Fast Plants are flowering and being pollinated are the same lessons that were extracted as a stand-alone Bee-ing an Engineer unit, also used as an NGSS-aligned exemplar.

The first the students has to complete the life cycle by dragging the correct picture to the accurate place. This is an updated version. Introduction to Lifespan Development (Fall 2019)
Lifespan Development examines the physical, cognitive, and socioemotional changes that occur throughout a lifetime. This course covers the essentials in understanding human development, psychological research, and theories of growth and development. Students will come to understand the lifespan perspective and to analyze growth through each of the major stages of development: prenatal development, infancy, early childhood, middle childhood, adolescence, early adulthood (including emerging adulthood), middle adulthood, and late adulthood. The course covers key topics in each of these stages, including major developmental theories, genetics, attachment, education, learning, disabilities, parenting, family life, moral development, illnesses, aging, generativity, and attitudes towards death and dying.

Faculty members may readily adapt the course’s OER content to include new developments and research to equip students with what they need to have success in their sociological journey.

Local to Global: The Sociological Journey

This textbook is a massive long term collaboration between sociologists who want to lessen the cost of higher education for students like you. This book is originally written by a sociologist at the University of Maine, and the textbook publisher for his many other books doesn’t want his name associated with free work… frustrating but not surprising. The sociology faculty at Lansing Community College secured an editable version and worked to provide a more current version in 2018. Their data analysis from the 2016 General Social Survey and from the Standard Cross-Cultural Sample is included in the text. Then in 2020 the sociology faculty at Delta College produced the online version of the book, updated the Census Data to the most recent 2018 American Community Survey and updated the 2017-2020 data from the World Values Survey. Additional editing for readability, a global to local focus, and modern context is underway. This text is a work in progress, and your questions and feedback make it more relevant and relatable.

The mission of the MIT-Haiti Initiative is to promote active learning in Kreyòl so that Haitians can have universal access to quality education in the language that most of them speak at home. 
Platfòm MIT-Ayiti, launched in 2019, offers a wealth of freely accessible educational resources in Kreyòl, including downloadable lesson plans and picture books categorized by topic, alongside official curricula from Haiti’s Ministry of National Education. The target audience for these resources includes students at all levels from pre-kindergarten through high school, and we offer materials in all disciplines. We also host and invite contributions from all educators who are willing to submit their own materials in Kreyòl. We work with these contributions, in konbit (collaborative) mode, to improve these submissions before publication. Men anpil, chay pa lou! (That is, many hands make light work!)
The Initiative’s original website, launched in 2010, includes software tools for math, physics, genetics, and biochemistry education, as well as a preliminary (work-in-progress) glossary of Kreyòl equivalents for English words commonly used in the STEM disciplines.

In this project, students will have the opportunity to reflect on culturally responsive education practices. Note that this project may require very little math (depending on what adaptations are necessary to the OER), but will help students evaluate their roles in contributing to OER materials and furthering DEI practices. There are two parts to this project: 1) evaluating the current level of cultural responsiveness of an OER or the curriculum and 2) adapting an OER to be more culturally responsive. You can have students evaluate one OER (well suited if students are working individually) or the entire curriculum (well suited if students are working in teams). Regardless of whether students are working individually or as a team, they are likely to only have time to adapt one OER.
