This is a stand alone lesson plan focused on analyzing the characters in Mildred Taylor's Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry.  It includes Powerpoint slides explaining direct and indirect characterization, static and dynamic characters, and flat and round characters.  The final slide directs students to a link to Sharon Layton's Characterization Assignment that provides a chart for students to use to analyze four characters from the novel.

This kit is a historical overview of American representations of chemicals from the three sisters to the Love Canal. It compares conflicting constructions about nuclear reactor safety, depleted uranium, Rachel Carson and DDT. Through analyzing diverse historic and contemporary media messages, students understand changing public knowledge, impressions and attitudes about chemicals in the environment.

Chemistry 143 is an introductory course designed to provide an overview of basic chemical concepts, specifically designed for those pursuing a career in the health sciences. In providing the framework of basic chemistry, the student will obtain the background necessary for continuing course work in subjects such as organic chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, pharmacology and physiology. The student will also be better prepared to deal with chemical questions outside the laboratory setting.

The Open for Antiracism (OFAR) Program – co-led by CCCOER and College of the Canyons – emerged as a response to the growing awareness of structural racism in our educational systems and the realization that adoption of open educational resources (OER) and open pedagogy could be transformative at institutions seeking to improve. The program is designed to give participants a workshop experience where they can better understand anti-racist teaching and how the use of OER and open pedagogy can empower them to involve students in the co-creation of an anti-racist classroom. The capstone project involves developing an action plan for incorporating OER and open pedagogy into a course being taught in the spring semester. OFAR participants are invited to remix this template to design and share their projects and plans for moving this work forward. 

Individuals preparing for human or social services professions have been influenced by family and societal events, values, beliefs, and assumptions which have interacted with their lives. Students will examine those influences (including gender, culture, and socioeconomic status) for the purpose of gaining insight into the ways their professional practice might be affected. Projects will include a professional practice action plan. Prerequisite: upper-division standing.

The practice deprives children of their childhood, and is harmful to their physical and mental development. Poverty, lack of good schools and the growth of the informal economy are considered to be the key causes of child labor in India.
