The Floyd of Rosedale trophy is most of all about football, a celebrated college rivalry, but look a little deeper and it's also about American history. It began in an era when racial discrimination was widespread, and protected at the highest levels of government. This lesson looks at the history of the trophy and the attitudes about race that helped create the need for the trophy in the first place.

Through learning about school dress codes, students will explore ways that discrimination about appearance can be racist and sexist and practice ways to speak out when they see or experience discrimination. This lesson is designed to follow Grade 3 Lesson 1: You Can't Wear That! (Or Can You...?) -- Part One.

The goal of the lesson is to educate upper primary school students on the racist Halloween costumes present in today's society. Students will learn about where blackface originiated and how it contributes to the oppression of Black people all across the world. Students will learn using a Powerpoint and Kahoot!. 

This class explores the political and aesthetic foundations of hip hop. Students trace the musical, corporeal, visual, spoken word, and literary manifestations of hip hop over its 30 year presence in the American cultural imagery. Students also investigate specific black cultural practices that have given rise to its various idioms. Students create material culture related to each thematic section of the course. Scheduled work in performance studio helps students understand how hip hop is created and assessed.

The movement is too white, too privileged, and needs to be inclusive of the voices of black, brown, indigenous, and those who are disproportionately affected by climate impacts.

The intersection of colorism and anti-immigrant thought in the modern day is rarely studied in classes. Our research has revealed that it is rampant both in conscious and unconscious opinions both on the wave of immigration across the southern border as well as other immigrants. International student exchanges are an increasingly popular aspect of the internationalisation of higher education around the globe. Whether as short-term mobility projects or semester long ‘study abroad’ opportunities, the benefits of such international study experiences have been well documented.
