This is a high school unit designed to teach students about the enduring qualities of heroism and how that influences today’s heroes, both in fiction and in reality. Once students understand the concepts, the unit provides teachers with a variety of activities to further strengthen student learning as well as make contemporary connections to the heroic ideal. This unit should take approximately 3-4 weeks.

How can we Design Cattle to Better Meet Human Needs?

In this high school Storyline unit on genetics and heredity, students are introduced to ‘SuperCows’. As they explore the vast variety of cattle breeds, students discover that cattle are specialized for different purposes and while similar, the ‘SuperCows’ are clearly unique. Students wonder what caused this diversity and specificity which leads to investigations about the role of inheritance, DNA and proteins.

This online textbook is intended for, but not limited to, 14 to 18 year old teenagers who have a general interest in mathematics. The text's language is aimed at high school students without a rigorous understanding and knowledge of university-level mathematics.

This book introduces several interesting topics not covered in the standard high school curriculum of most countries.

The materials presented can be challenging, but at the same time, we strive to make this book readable to all with 9–10 years of formal education.

In the Culminating Activity students are researching the FBI v. Apple debate. They are split into four group sand must collaborate together to come up with a stance their perspective would agree with alongside historical events in history that support their side.

Integrate the fun of video into your classroom with these fun learning activities. Adaptable for different ages and subjects, the video projects can be as simple or elaborate as time, resources, and creativity allow. These creative activities can be customized to meet specific student learning outcomes, goals, and objectives. 

After differentiating between precision and accuracy, students will perform a lab that helps them learn which lab equipment is appropriate for measuring liquids.
Students will then calculate absolute error and percent error.

Students will independently write the hypothesis, variable, and controls for a lab. Students will learn to read an alcohol thermometer. Students will calculate the rate of change in temperature.

Students will research the physical properties of iron, sand, and salt to figure out how to separate a mixture of the three. Then students will write and perform a lab based on their physical properties.

Students will learn the proper technique for using a mortar and pestle. Students will be able to write their own lab and determine what type of data to collect, complete with hypothesis, variable, control, equipment, procedure, and data table. Then students will perform the lab they have written.

Students will perform a lab to help in understand the need for prior knowledge when writing a hypothesis. Students will also differentiate between a variable and controls by examining the data collected.

This unit engages students in a variety of activities that analyze and reflect on the role of social media in our everyday lives. This includes options for collaborative group work, reading nonfiction articles, a design challenge and presentations to communicate ideas. The unit also includes a formal writing assessment option that aligns with the Common Core State Writing Standards. Activities can be adapted or combined in a variety of ways to support student reflection and analysis. These lessons were piloted in 9th grade English classes but are suitable or a range of secondary students.
