Teaching Visual Effects for Audiovisual Production using Digital Learning Objects

The research project of this Ph.D. in Digital Media has as objective the creation of a tool (object of learning) for pedagogical aid in teaching the production of visual effects in audiovisual productions, more specifically in the interactions between real and virtual images (match moving).

The prototype created during the research has the purpose of assisting teachers and students in the practical exercises of interaction between real and virtual images.

The tool has the ability to assist in data collection at the time of live-action filming, given the large amount and complexity of these data, and its vital need for the reproduction of real conditions in the virtual universe later.

In addition, it has the ability to generate a script (in Maxscript language) for its use in 3DS Max graphics software, automating part of the production process.

It is also part of the research, besides the conception and creation of the tool (learning object), its validation in the pedagogical and design bias (user experience and user interface).

This course explores contemporary American theatrical expression as it may be organized around issues of gender and cultural identity. This exploration will include the analysis of performances, scripts, and video documentation, as well as the invention of original documents of theatrical expression. Class lectures and discussions will analyze samples of Native American, Chicano, African American, and Asian American theater, taking into consideration the historical and political context for the creation of these works. Performance exercises will help students identify theatrical forms and techniques used by these theaters, and how these techniques contribute to the overall goals of specific theatrical expressions.

In this Modeling Scenario we help students develop a model (Torricelli's Law) for the height of a falling column of water with a small hole in the container at the bottom of the column of water through which water exits the column. We offer several sources of simulations on YouTube from which one can collect data and ask students to verify their model through parameter estimation.

This is an example of the type of resources which is freely and openly available under the most generous Creative Commons License at SIMIODE - Systemic Initiative for Modeling Investigations and Opportunities with Differential Equations. SIMIODE is about teaching differential equations using modeling and technology upfront and throughout the learning process. You can learn more at our dynamic website, where we offer a community in which colleagues can communicate, collaborate, publish, teach, explore, contribute, etc.

Everything is FREE at SIMIODE.SIMIODE is all about helping faculty to teach differential equations through modeling and technology and we are building a community of resources and support for that purpose. Come join us as faculty and as students. All is FREE. We are building a complete environment for teachers and learners – communication, groups across and intra/inter campus projects for students and teachers, models, data, and videos. For the latter see our YouTube videos on our YouTube Channel for SIMIODE.

This learning activity is designed to be used in a large introductory chemistry course, as part of a larger module of learning activities that includes prior viewing of an interactive instructional video. Instructional videos are to be viewed before class meetings. During class time, students work in small groups and discuss the presented information and question prompts, and will build upon the concepts discussed in that video in order to develop a new, extended concept.Students should be tasked with working together to complete the prompts in each section of the activity by a set time limit. After each section is completed, the entire class can share their answers via a personal response system, and the instructor can review and explain the correct responses, using the accompanying slide deck, which translates the problems into multiple-choice prompts.Instructional resources include 1) interactive instructional videos (these can be embedded directly into the learning management system) 2) the learning activity (.docx and .pdf) 3) the learning objectives (.docx and .pdf) and 4) the slide deck (.pptx). - Chemical Bonding- Resonance - Intermolecular Forces- Collision Theory- Equilibrium- Nucleophiles and Electrophiles
