La Tecnología de la Información (TI) siempre ha sido considerada un punto importante en las organizaciones empresariales, desde la perspectiva de los costos y de gestión. Es parte integral de la tecnología y los modelos de negocio de las empresas y las ha obligado a adaptarse a las nuevas estrategias de tecnología. Con los avances de infraestructura en la tecnología de la información y la comunicación, los nuevos modos de programación y los nuevos modelos en su uso; han llegado también nuevas formas de denominar los servicios de Internet. Factores como la mercantilización de hardware, software de código abierto, la virtualización, la globalización de la fuerza de trabajo y los procesos ágiles de TI han apoyado el desarrollo de nuevos modelos de tecnología y negocios. La computación en nube o Cloud Computing ofrece a las organizaciones más opciones en cuanto a cómo gestionar las infraestructuras, ahorrar costes, trabajar en equipo remotamente y delegar responsabilidades a proveedores de servicios Cloud o terceros, sin que los usuarios tengan que tener ningún conocimiento de la infraestructura que hay detrás.

La mayoría de las empresas se esfuerzan por reducir su coste del área de TI a través de los medios de virtualización. Esta demanda de reducir el costo ha dado lugar a la innovación de la computación en nube, ya que ofrece una reducción en los costos de administración así como reducción de costos de infraestructura. Los grandes beneficios del Cloud Computing permiten la adquisición de recursos computacionales de manera rápida, flexible y con un menor costo de implementación para los usuarios o empresas y es rentable para los proveedores, pues a pesar de presentar algunos riesgos, el poder trabajar con este nuevo tipo de tecnología permite al usuario ahorrarse tanto licencias, como la administración de servicios y de los equipos necesarios. Además de beneficios en términos de costo, el Cloud Computing puede presentar beneficios de seguridad ya que brinda a las empresas normas y estándares de seguridad de los más altos niveles internacionales. Incluso presenta beneficios ambientales y sociales. Todo gracias a la arquitectura conformada por los modelos con los cuales trabaja el Cloud Computing, denominadas por sus siglas: SaaS, PaaS e IaaS, las cuales corresponden al software, plataforma e infraestructura como servicios respectivamente.

El Cloud Computing se encuentra todavía en una etapa infantil y es una nueva tecnología para las micro, pequeñas, medianas o nuevas empresas. Existen pocas guías y marcos para una óptima adopción, la mayoría de ellos no se encuentran en la lengua española o no engloban todos los factores y cuestiones necesarias para generar confianza en esta tecnología. Por lo tanto, la mayoría de las empresas no están muy seguras en adoptar la tecnología. La presente tesis aborda el problema de confianza en la adopción y se discuten y analizan las barreras que se pueden presentar al adoptar la computación en nube en una empresa. Se presentan una serie de estrategias, una hoja de ruta y un marco que servirán como una guía para enfrentar los desafíos, cuestiones o factores en términos de costo, seguridad, confidencialidad, confianza, cumplimiento normativo, cumplimiento legal y cumplimento-TI, así como los factores organizacionales/humanos. En esta tesis se detallan exhaustivamente todos los temas referentes al Cloud Computing desde sus antecedentes, evolución, arquitectura, tecnología, modelos de negocio, modelos de servicio, modelos de despliegue, proveedores del servicio, etc. y así se logre un profundo entendimiento del paradigma de computación en nube. La metodología fue realizada siguiendo los lineamientos de diferentes estándares, normas, protocolos, estándares, certificados y mejores prácticas internacionalmente reconocidas respecto a la seguridad de la información en un entorno de TI ó enfocadas a entornos de Cloud Computing como: ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 27002, COBIT, ITIL, KMIP, TLS/SSL y CCSK. Esto logra una metodología con procedimientos adecuados para la adopción de Cloud Computing en las micro, pequeñas y medianas empresas que ya adoptan servicios de nube o están interesados en su adopción.

Open Music Theory is a natively-online open educational resource intended to serve as the primary text and workbook for undergraduate music theory curricula. OMT2 provides not only the material for a complete traditional core undergraduate music theory sequence (fundamentals, diatonic harmony, chromatic harmony, form, 20th-century techniques), but also several other units for instructors who have diversified their curriculum, such as jazz, popular music, counterpoint, and orchestration. Long Description:
Open Music Theory Version 2 (OMT2) is an open educational resource intended to serve as the primary text and workbook for undergraduate music theory curricula. As an open and natively-online resource, OMT2 is substantially different from other commercially-published music theory textbooks, though it still provides the same content that teachers expect from a music theory text.

OMT2 has been designed inclusively. For us, this means broadening our topics beyond the standard harmony and atonal theory topics to include fundamentals, musical form, jazz, pop, and orchestration. And within those traditional sections of harmony and atonal theory, the authors have deliberately chosen composers who represent diverse genders and races. The book is accessible. And perhaps most importantly, the book is completely free and always will be.

The text of the book is augmented with several different media: video lessons, audio, interactive notated scores with playback, and small quizzes are embedded directly into each chapter for easy access.

OMT2 introduces a full workbook to accompany the text. Almost every chapter offers at least one worksheet on that topic. Some chapters, especially in the Fundamentals section, also collect additional assignments that can be found on other websites.

CREARE: Coral Response to Environment Authentic Research Experience

There is growing body of evidence to support that students who directly experience authentic scientific research are more likely to continue onto advanced degrees and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). In an effort to introduce more students to the benefits of scientific research we have drawn on an ongoing research project aimed at understanding how Corals Respond to the Environment (CRE) to develop an interdisciplinary laboratory course based on Authentic Research Experiences (ARE). A small cohort of undergraduate students enrolled in a semester-long course, entitled CREARE, perform biochemical experiments in the laboratory, analyze environmental data by R statistical software and prepared a report modeled after a research manuscript to present their work. The impact of CREARE on student learning gains and attitudes towards science is being measured, as is the impact of CREARE on participants' career choices and retention in STEM. This multidisciplinary research program addresses the impact of climate change on the health of a critically endangered coral species, ultimately leading to a better stewardship of this invaluable resource. Furthermore, CREARE offers a unique experience for students, one that may serve as a model for the development of more research-based courses, leading to improved retention in our STEM departments.

The book offers students and instructors as well as (future) communication strategists and campaigners foundations, strategies, tools and methodologies of sustainability communication to create a new story and take authorship for the new narrative. Furthermore, it attracts professionals, advocates, and academics who are passionate about taking proactive roles in restoratively addressing the pressing interrelated sociocultural and ecological issues if our times, to become reflexive leaders and advocates.

Long Description:
Over the last two decades, sustainability has become a widespread normative framework or regulatory idea – mostly communicated in a context of sustainable development and thus as ‘alternative to’ or ‘fight against climate change’. Sustainability is generally defined as the fact that a given activity or action is capable of being sustained and therefore continued, related to the responsibility for the future, meeting global needs, the protection of the environment, development and ecocultural consciousness as a deeper logic and matter of life, as well as participation and engagement. Thus, sustainability communication encompasses the relationship between humans and their environment and focuses on social discourses (Godemann at al., 2011). Here, a critical approach seems to be fruitful to grasp the largely amorphous concept of sustainability that gets bent into many different shapes in the public sphere (Weder et al., 2019a; 2021; Dimitrov, 2018).

For the introductory book at hand, we focus on the role of strategic communication in shaping sustainability as current narrative of our society in relation to the ‘old’ climate change narrative of destruction and imbalance between human and nature. Therefore, we conceptualize the evolution of the sustainability narrative as core process of strategic communication. We focus on organizations and their responsibility towards the society (Corporate Social Responsibility) and identify the potential of strategic communication for a transition of the old to the ‘new’ narrative.

After the clarification of the basic paradigms of Corporate Responsibility, Environmental and Social Governance, and Sustainability as normative framework and narrative of the future, we introduce the basic paradigms of communication, communication from a functional, rather instrumental and critical, social-constructivist perspective, before we focus on sustainability and CSR communication and related strategies and tactics of content-related, storytelling-focused communication management.
