A video that makes the unspoken assumptions that we use in pedigree analysis explicit through a skit of two students solving a challenging pedigree question over videoconference. The students discuss certain pedigree assumptions which are often not mentioned in other pedigree teaching materials, even though they can be important to solving complex problems. The students recognize that not all assumptions are always applicable and sometimes we need to reconsider which assumptions to use.Includes two videos: a version without subtitles and a version with subtitles

Crash Course Government: So political campaigns are a pretty big deal in the United States. For instance the 2012 presidential election clocked in at the most expensive ever - at around $6 billion dollars! Needless to say, money plays a very big role in American elections. So today, Craig is going to take a look at why we have campaigns in the first place, why the campaign seasons run for so long, and of course why campaigns cost so much.

Postmodernism in White Teeth by Zadie Smith

Zadie Smith’s White Teeth, is well fit into the postcolonial theoretical frameworks as it deliberately traces the personal history of the protagonists interlaced with the cultural history of the post-Postcolonial Britain. The melting pot Willesden in North West London is vividly picturised with the people belonging to various ethnicity and religions. The novelist traces the migrant’s conflict between identity crisis (nowhere) and new cultural hybridity (everywhere). In this video, Smith’s seminal notion of celebrating hybridity in the post-postcolonial England is examined. Smith proposes the need for secularism and cultural tolerance among the multi-lingual and multi-racial immigrants and also the natives of the land.

With this free video resource, students will explore the economic way of thinking, and the role incentives play in all our lives through engaging Hollywood production style videos.

Educators can use MRU's videos in a variety of ways, to include “flipping” the classroom, as study aids, supplementary material, concept reinforcement, or even as a full course offering.

In MRU's Principles of Macroeconomics course, we’ll cover fundamental questions such as: Why do some countries grow rich while others remain poor? How important is a country’s banking system — and what happened during the recent financial crisis? How did Zimbabwe end up with an inflation rate that rose into the quadrillions?

We’ll also cover important topics like the Federal Reserve, monetary policy, fiscal policy, the Solow Growth Model, institutional analysis, the “economics of ideas,” and more.

This assignment aims to provide learners with different means of representation, for e.g. illustration through producing media to maximize transfer of information. It will be used at the end of the active learning activity in a flipped model (learners can start to practice in class and complete the assignment at home during their own time). Videos/comic strips will be played/displayed around the school to promote awareness. In order to reduce extraneous processing, manage essential processing, and foster generative processing, the assignment gives learners the freedom to choose which media they prefer. In terms of addressing media literacy concerns, learners are advised to first look at copyright issues when using materials from the Internet or posting materials on the Internet (see assignment instructions).
