Exploring Diversity with Statistics: Step-by-step JASP Guides
Only Sharing Permitted
CC BY-NC-ND
Rating
0.0 stars

These resources were created to compliment our undergraduate statistics lab manual, Applied Data Analysis in Psychology: Exploring Diversity with Statistics, published by Kendall Hunt publishing company. Like our lab manual, these JASP walk-through guides meaningfully and purposefully integrate and highlight diversity research to teach students how to analyze data in an open-source statistical program. The data sets utilized in these guides are from open-access databases (e.g., Pew Research Center, PLoS One, ICPSR, and more). Guides with step-by-step instructions, including annotated images and examples of how to report findings in APA format, are included for the following statistical tests: independent samples t test, paired samples t test, one-way ANOVA, two factor ANOVA, chi-square test, Pearson correlation, simple regression, and multiple regression.

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) is a powerful analytical technique used in chemistry, physics, and biochemistry to study the structure, dynamics, and composition of molecules. It relies on the principles of nuclear spin and magnetic resonance to provide detailed information about the chemical and physical properties of substances. In NMR, a sample is placed in a strong magnetic field, typically generated by a superconducting magnet. The magnet aligns the nuclear spins of certain atoms in the sample, such as hydrogen (protons) or carbon-13. These nuclei possess a property called spin, which is analogous to the rotation of a spinning top.

Facial Expressions: An Introductory ESL Lesson Plan
Unrestricted Use

Rating
0.0 stars

This is a speaking lesson plan that is great to use to introduce facial expressions. Facial expressions are important to study as they provide non-verbal cues and information. They can provide nearly as much information as spoken words do. They can be difficult to understand but when understood students can remain confident when interacting with others in English. This is a great lesson to introduce to upper-intermediate students that have been looking to develop a deeper understanding of English vocabulary in conversational contexts. If you want additional lesson plans and support, including teachers’ notes, be sure to register for a free Off2Class account.

Faylab Lab Manual

This is the lab manual for the Fay Lab at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth School for Marine Science and Technology. The focus of our work centers around developing interdisciplinary modeling approaches to extend the scope of applications for fisheries and ecosystem-based management. More about our group’s research activity can be found on our website.

This lab manual resource is intended to provide an overview for lab members and others about how we do our work, and our expectations for our team. It is also a space to document institutional knowledge and for important information about procedures and available resources.

The content for this book was developed as part of our group’s participation in the Openscapes Champions program. We are extremely grateful to and acknowledge Dr. Julia Stewart Lowndes’ role in helping shape how our lab both works and how we articulate our identity. 🙏 Thanks also to Ileana Fenwick and Stefanie Butland for their work moving the lab-manual from bookdown to Quarto.

In my ESL College Composition (equivalent to English 100), I have used the following films: Loving, Trial of the Chicago 7, and The United States vs. Billie Holliday. This helps students, particularly international students who are unfamiliar with American history, be prepared for other classes  Through the films, we can see how the characters (representing real life heroes/heroines) fight against the oppression and inequities.

The Francophone Project

The Francophone Project is a resource that was created in order to bring awareness to the various French speaking countries throughout the world. Because culture is so important and often pushed aside in the classroom, we created a website for educators and learners of the French language to use as a way to access information about culture through natives. The website includes individuals from France to Canada, Algeria, The Ivory Coast and more. Through short videos, these individuals share certain aspects about their cultures while reflecting what it means to be Francophone to them. Our hope is that our project will serve to help people learn the French language, to appreciate all Francophone cultures, and to continue learning because it’s benefits go far beyond borders.

Each presentation includes pictures with citations, a works cited, voice narration or background music, and a brief summary on their chosen topic. Enjoy!
