Career videos show the types of work in which individuals employed in a career field, cluster or pathway are engaged. Nebraska Career Education, in cooperation with the Nebraska Departments of Labor and Economic Development, offers an array of virtual career tours of Nebraska-based businesses and industries. Discussion guides for the teacher and viewing guides for students have been developed for each career tour. These virtual industry tours provide a unique opportunity to get a glimpse inside Nebraska-based industries without leaving the classroom. Interviews, tours of the business environment and “pop-up” information and statistics on job markets, salaries, and educational requirements are part of each career cluster’s videos.

Established with the aid of a Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) grant, this project was created to offer insight into what sustainability within agriculture actually looks like. Spread across eastern Nebraska, ten different farming operations are featured across the twenty different videos. Each farmer was interviewed by a high school student from a nearby school about what their operation does, how and why they choose to manage it in a certain way, and what makes it sustainable as well as what would make it more sustainable.

This program, produced in cooperation with the Nebraska State Irrigation Association, explores the relationships between groundwater and surface water, the different ways in which we use it, and how we work together to manage water for future generations.

This seven-day lesson covers the ins and outs of Nebraska wildlife mammals. During the lesson, students explore wildlife mammals, learn extensive information about each mammal, and are evaluated on their ability to identify each mammal by pelt/hide. The list of wildlife mammals is based on the species identification component of the Nebraska FFA Environmental & Natural Resources competition.

One important sector of the Food Industry is new product development.  At the conclusion of a basic food science unit, students will have the opportunity to develop their own new food products and consider how they will market their items to consumers.

 The students will dissect an owl pellet by removing the bones.  They will use the bones to reconstruct the skeletons to help them determine what animals the owl has eaten. The class will compile their results and use their findings to help them construct a food web for the owl.

How do agronomists use data to diagnose nutrient deficiencies and make prescriptions to improve soil health? In this lesson, students will act as detectives to investigate soybeans displaying unusual symptoms, and combine their visual evidence with soil data to identify nutrient deficiencies.

The students will watch an introductory video on food chains. They will also complete an activity that will simulate the foraging routines of a predator.

From the Laurentian Outdoor Survival curriculum, this can be a multiple day lesson for Natural Resources or Wildlife Management class. Students discuss ways to survive and signals to be rescued.

Students will work through a manufacturing work flow simulation by making paper airplanes to meet a quota within a specific time frame.

This lesson introduces students to the parts of fish (both internal and external), covers adaptations of fish, and assesses student's understanding of the parts of fish.

This dissection laboratory content and activity will familiarize students with the major internal and external anatomical features and structures of the perch fish and with the functions of each part and system.  

How are the majority of plants in our world classified into groups? In this lesson, students will explore the similarities and differences that exist between the structures of monocot and dicot plants through the context of a corn and soybean plant. 

This lesson covers plant processes including photosynthesis, respiration, and transpiration. This represents a portion of the Introduction to Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources (AFNR) series in Nebraska middle and high school agricultural education.

This lesson presents an overview of how plants are propagated. Upon completion of this unit students will know how to propagate plants both sexually and asexually.
