The current challenges in the English language classrooms are students’ lack of interest in conventional teaching and learning activities as well as limited attention span during lessons. In view of this, the gamification element is injected inside the classroom by utilising a creative approach to the existing conventional scavenger hunt game. The implementation of an android application with AR capability allows the students to play educational quizzes. The two-fold objectives of this project included: (1) developing an android-based fun quiz application with AR technology which was location-based so students could experience interactive learning environment; and (2) investigating the implementation of this mobile application during English lessons.

Reality Czech is an openly licensed online curriculum for beginning to intermediate-level Czech students. The course aims to be a highly communicative introduction to Czech language and culture and includes over 240 interview compilation videos shot in the style of a reality TV show on a variety of everyday topics such as daily schedule, hobbies, food and drink, studies, holidays, health, weather, and more.
The name Reality Czech reflects not only the centrality of these interviews to the curriculum, but also the textbook’s focus on the vocabulary and constructions Czechs frequently use to talk about everyday topics. The entire course has been shaped by the language used in the interview videos as well as openly licensed content sourced from the internet.
Each of the 10 units follows a sequence of pre-class, in-class, and post-class activities ideal for a flipped classroom:
- Pre-class activities such as Quizlet vocabulary activities, video and audio with comprehension questions, culture notes, and grammar exercises introduce students to new language. - An activity book for in-class use provides all of the resources an instructor needs to create a communicative classroom experience focused around task-based learning, such as games and activities. - Post-class activities use both exercises and authentic multimedia texts as a catalyst for students to create language.
The materials all exist natively online in flexible formats such as Google Docs, and are licensed with a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, allowing the curriculum to be easily adapted to 100% online delivery.

Sons et lettres provides a set of classroom materials to train students to hear and produce the sounds of French and to recognize the regular spellings used to represent those sounds in print. The materials are inspired by a desire to help students feel more confident about their French pronunciation and more at home saying the many French words, familiar and unfamiliar, which they encounter in their studies, in French media and in their travels. In our experience, students are not given sufficient preparation to successfully decipher and pronounce French words. These materials are intended to fill that gap and to clear away the confusion that English speakers often feel when they see French words with seemingly mysterious combinations of letters.

Teach in Spanglish is founded on a simple idea: while just a small fraction of today’s college students will progress to the high-level, all-in-Spanish courses offered by language departments, more than two-thirds enter college with the ability to understand Spanish when given context in English, support from their instructor, and time.
Over nearly a decade in the classroom, our team has shown that students who took Spanish for at least two years in high school, at least one year in college, and/or who were raised in a bilingual environment (Spanish as a Heritage Language speakers, or SHL) can, with proper support, engage in high-level analysis of Spanish and Spanglish primary sources and original texts, utilizing insights from linguistics to both structure the classroom experience and guide students in their engagement.
The teach in Spanglish website links to a form that allows instructors to request access to a free Canvas site that contains instructor facing videos, quizzes, and other modules to help get started teaching in Spanglish.
