In patients with type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular complications are of particular interest, as these are mainly responsible for the increase of mortality and obesity in diabetic patients compared with healthy subjects. In continuation of this and in order to understand why diabetes is an inflammatory disease, we’ll provide an introduction to the acute phase response.
