B9 Powerful Practices: Improving School Climate and Changing Children’s Future Through the CA Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL) Teaching Pyramid Framework
Only Sharing Permitted
CC BY-NC-ND
Rating
0.0 stars

The CA CSEFEL Teaching Pyramid’s tiered approach—promoting healthy social-emotional skills; preventing challenging behaviors and intervening for problematic behaviors—transforms early childhood classroom climates by focusing on social-emotional development and building the skills of the adults in the child’s life; while supporting children with specific promotion and prevention strategies. This strategy is being taught across California and connects to school-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. There is also a strong emphasis on partnerships with families; and the approach directly supports several of the protective factors from Strengthening Families.

This textbook introduces students to the essential tools of quality improvement. The emphasis is placed on health care informatics, as reflected in the several examples contained in the text. The book is written to be accessible to any student in the areas of health information management, health care informatics, and health care industrial engineering. Although having some statistical background would be a plus, such knowledge is not a prerequisite to understanding and applying the tools presented here.  Several How-To sections are included to demonstrate the hands-on implementation of the discussed concepts using software such as Minitab, Visio, and Excel.

Basic stochastic simulation: Stochastic simulation algorithm

The stochastic simulation algorithm (SSA, Kinetic Monte Carlo, Gillespie algorithm) produces an example trajectory for a particular member of a probabilistic ensemble by looping over the following steps. The current state of the system is used to determine the likelihood of each possible chemical reaction in relative comparison to the likelihoods for the other possible reactions, as well as to determine when the next reaction is expected. Pseudo-random numbers are drawn to "roll the dice" to determine exactly when the next reaction will proceed, and which kind of reaction it will happen to be.

This is the output of Etwinning Project BeYouthiful Media.
Media literacy includes the practices that allow people to access, critically evaluate and create media. We intend to promote awareness of media influence and create an active stance towards both consuming and creating media. We want to develop receptive media capability to critically analyze messages, offer opportunities for students to broaden their experience of media, and help them develop generative media capability to increase creative skills in making their own media messages and also fight with fake news.
