This lesson provides an interactive, fun way to learn proper grammar and punctuation. Utilizing multimedia and technology-based platform, the game will use engaging and relatable everyday scenarios to learn about proper grammar and punctuation for application in speech and writing. The DLO focuses on the target audience of female learners 15-24 years of age who will be exposed to real-world applications for the information which they are learning, explicitly tailored to increase literacy skills on multiple levels. The problems and scenarios that are given are realistic, allowing learners to refer to personal, relevant experiences to use as a reference when experiencing similar scenarios. For rationale and defense, this relevance is also reinforced in the instruction by Dr. Rodgers. This DLO is designed to take learners through a media-based “Leo City,” where they will experience different levels of grammar activities with each character they meet in the world. As the learner improves their skills, their character will also power up and gain powers to be able to gain access to new sections of the city, until they reached the end.

This book applies a visual reading comprehension approach in Swahili teaching using pictures and text. It comprises of pictures accompanied by short texts that clarify what each picture presents in the written story. The book compiled short stories on different topics related to students’ daily lives including but not limited to greetings, self-introduction, transportation, family, weather, attending a class and doing different activities. The book offers students a chance to develop Swahili comprehension skills. It also allows the students to learn how to read and understand the text and exposes them to a wider range of vocabulary and grammar, which are useful elements in forming the correct language structures.

In this activity, students will play a game to learn some of the most common present tense verbs to use in their daily life. The verb is related to the units that they are taking during the semester.

The goal of this course is to review grammar and develop vocabulary building strategies to refine oral and written expression. Speaking and writing assignments are designed to expand communicative competence. Assignments are based on models and materials drawn from contemporary media (newspapers and magazines, television, Web). The models, materials, topics and assignments vary from semester to semester.
