The Open for Antiracism (OFAR) Program – co-led by CCCOER and College of the Canyons – emerged as a response to the growing awareness of structural racism in our educational systems and the realization that adoption of open educational resources (OER) and open pedagogy could be transformative at institutions seeking to improve. The program is designed to give participants a workshop experience where they can better understand anti-racist teaching and how the use of OER and open pedagogy can empower them to involve students in the co-creation of an anti-racist classroom. The capstone project involves developing an action plan for incorporating OER and open pedagogy into a course.I share 3 resources here from my Introduction to Biology course: our syllabus with specifications grading (complete/incomplete grading with unlimited revisions) and no late penalties, our Biologist Biographies project, and our content curation project. Please adapt these resources to make your own course more antiracist!

El juego se ha concebido como una misión global a través de diferentes misiones (contaminación ambiental, la atmósfera, bosques y suelos, ríos y mares y por último reciclaje y energías renovables) en cada una de ellas obtendrán un número con el que finalmente podrán obtener el código final y así salvar el planeta. El juego está orientado para alumnos de E.S.O (1º-4º) y para 1º y 2º de bachillerato. En cada misión hay preguntas para los distintos niveles educativos, aquellas preguntas más complejas vienen acompañadas por videos o pequeñas explicaciones para ayudar al alumno a comprender la materia. Students are introduced to the concept of engineering biological organisms and studying their growth to be able to identify periods of fast and slow growth. They learn that bacteria are found everywhere, including on the surfaces of our hands. Student groups study three different conditions under which bacteria are found and compare the growth of the individual bacteria from each source. In addition to monitoring the quantity of bacteria from differ conditions, they record the growth of bacteria over time, which is an excellent tool to study binary fission and the reproduction of unicellular organisms.
