Computer Science K-12 Learning Standards

(View Complete Item Description)

Effective and relevant computer science education is essential to achieving our vision that “every student is ready for college, career, and life.” While attention to computer science education has increased in recent years, a lack of awareness about its content and potential impact is widespread. The Washington State Computer Science K–12 Learning Standards are designed to enhance teacher understanding and improve student learning so that students are better equipped for college, career, and life. Washington is committed to implementing high-quality computer science instruction to: * Increase the opportunity for all students to gain knowledge of computer science. * Introduce the fundamental concepts and applications of computer science to all students, beginning at the elementary school level. * Make computer science at the secondary level accessible, worthy of a computer science credit, and/or equivalent to math and science courses as a required graduation credit (see Level 3B of computer science standards). * Offer additional secondary-level computer science instruction that allows interested students to study facets of computer science in depth and prepare them for entry into a career or college. Learning standards describe what students need to know and be able to do. Standards are worded broadly to allow flexibility at the district, building, and classroom levels.

INPUT AND OUTPUT DEVICES

(View Complete Item Description)

This content enable learner to understand about input and output devicesComputer being a versatile machine can process different types of data. so to work with these data types we need different type of devices which can help us to enter such data types in the computer and to receive their outputs as well in this chapter we will cover many such devices like keyboard, mouse, joystick, light pen, printer, speaker, etc. That can be used with the computer.

Network types

(View Complete Item Description)

There are different types of networks. Common types of networks are: WAN and LAN. There are other types of networks as well: SAN, MAN, BAN, IAN and others. Each network type helps us understand the purpose, design goals, and scale of the network. For example if we say a network is a LAN, we can assume it is a local network, probably in one building or in a reasonably restricted area. We might make an assumption that a LAN has a certain number of devices connected to it. However, if we say a network is a WAN, we might assume it is much larger, and designed to accommodate a much, much larger number of devices.

CRISPER Prokaryotic Antiviral Defense Mechanism

(View Complete Item Description)

Barrangou and a team of researchers at Danisco first experimentally demonstrated the technique of CRISPR (Clusters of Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats). To fight off the infecting bacteriophages, the bacterial immume systems (CRISPR-Cas9) specifically target genomic sequences. Cas9 is an enzyme that cuts DNA which is associated with the specialized stretches of CRISPR DNA. This figure clearly depicts how the bacterium protects itself from the infecting viruses (bacteriophages).
