Cool4Ed

  • This is a project backed by the CSU, UC and CCC system that spotlights textbooks created by California instructors 
  • You can find textbooks in ALL subject areas

 

Open Textbook Library

  • A curated list of textbooks from college instructors all over the country.

  • Many are peer-reviewed by other instructors, which is a helpful tool when choosing a text.

 

Writing Spaces 

  • Focused on college-level writing, this site offers chapters rather than entire textbooks, which makes it easy to mix and match only the parts that you need. 
  • Great for any class that requires writing.

Authoring Open Textbooks by the Open Textbook Network

This guide is for faculty authors, librarians, project managers and others who are involved in the production of open textbooks in higher education and K-12. Content includes a checklist for getting started, publishing program case studies, textbook organization and elements, writing resources and an overview of useful tools.

BC Open Textbook Authoring Guide

This is a comprehensive guide to authoring an open textbook including: structuring the textbook, getting started with and using Press Books, adding videos, copy editing, and licensing information.

Open Author

This tool makes it easy to combine text, pictures, sounds, files, and video, and save them as openly licensed educational resources.

Module Builder

The Module Builder allows authors to create both student and instructor facing content views. Authors are encouraged to include overviews, pedagogical supporting text, and instructions for both students and other users of the resource. The Module can consist of sequenced tasks, which can incorporate a step-by-step approach to learning. Each task can have associated resources available for download.
