TestBanks?
by Merrilee Anderson 1 year, 3 months agoAre there testbanks specifically for OpenStax? I use canvas and in the past created my own exams but trying to create pools or item banks to have more to draw from. Thanks in advance, Merrilee

Hello Professor Anderson,
Thanks for asking. OpenStax itself doesn't have formal test banks for this book, but faculty and others from the community have developed offerings that might help. Just to highlight a couple, the instructors at Georgia Highlands College have created a pretty robust set of resources including quizzes. You can find that at https://getlibraryhelp.highlands.edu/c.php?g=836658&p=5975094
You may also see an opportunity to use materials from the Anatomy and Physiology Quizbook by Kerry G. Baker. It's at https://oercommons.org/courses/anatomy-quizbook-for-students-studying-or-intending-to-study-medicine. I'm not certain if your audience aligns with the book purpose (med students), but there may be potential to utilize some materials. The book can be downloaded at the resource link from OER Commons.
OpenStax does offer section-level assessments with feedback directly with our Canvas integration tool -- Assignable. We did not specifically build it for exams; it functions more like a homework or formative assessment system. But if it is helpful either as practice or for the purpose you're mentioning above, we'd be glad to share a demo or tell you more. You can learn about it here: https://openstax.org/assignable (note it's offered at no charge).
Thank you for using our materials, and please let me know if we can help with anything.
Best,
Anthony
