Acquiring Accessible Formats
Rating
0.0 stars

Acquiring the accessible formats a learner needs is part of a multi-step decision-making process. By prioritizing accessibility, access barriers for learners with disabilities will be minimized when materials are acquired. In cases where inaccessible materials have been selected, alternative forms - accessible formats - of those materials will have to be acquired for learners who need them. Examples of accessible formats include audio, braille, large print, tactile graphics, and digital text conforming with accessibility standards.

Accessible formats of materials can be acquired from:

During World War Two, a fierce battle between American and Japanese forces on Kwajalein atoll left a trail of debris on the deep lagoon floor. This lagoon now has one of the largest collections of well-preserved aircraft in the world. In this video, as part of the first ever film crew allowed onto this secret military base, Jonathan explores a B-25, F4-U Corsair and Dauntless dive bomber still sitting on the bottom of the ocean, as if ready to take off. Please see the accompanying study guide for educational objectives and discussion points.

This resource allows students to learn the letters of the alphabet, the sound of the letters, and words that start with each letter. In addition, students can acquire new vocabulary. To carry out this activity, it is important to first watch this video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlpeUVw43vU .It features a song where the alphabet letters are learned through a story. Subsequently, students will create the first slide where they can listen to the letters by clicking on them. The teacher will make a sound or say the letters, and the students have to drag them onto the coconut tree. Next, a song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hq3yfQnllfQ will play where the sounds of the letters are associated with words, and students have to repeat them. Finally, on the other slides, there is vocabulary worked on in this song, so if the drawings related to the letter 'c' appear, they have to click on the letter 'c'.

Finally, to create this resource, I drew inspiration from Drahota Brandee: https://oercommons.org/courseware/lesson/70494
