Students will be able to identify and explain the current crisis in Syria. Students will also be able to evaluate the situation in Syria and formulate their opinion on the topic, citing evidence from the materials provided.

As the situation in Syria worsens and the number of Syrian refugees increases, the Reimagine Syria curriculum addresses this need to understand the conflict and how this conflict has and will impact a generation of young Syrians. Through media and conflict analysis, students develop knowledge and skills to better understand the multiples ways conflict affects them and are able to address the driving question: "How can we, as youth, develop productive solutions to conflict in our communities?"

1 Day Lesson to introduce students to push and pull factors as to why people migrate. 

The humanitarian crisis in Syria poses major challenges to doctrines, legal frameworks, and institutional norms about the moral imperative to intervene on behalf of afflicted populations. At the heart of this challenge presented by Syria is the debate surrounding the Responsibility to Protect, or R2P, doctrine. This edited collection brings together some of the most important voices on R2P and humanitarian intervention to examine the doctrine’s validity in the context of Syria’s civil war.

This website is a collection of resources concerning learning Arabic as a second language as well as information about Arab culture, Islam, and various Arab countries. This textbook is for students who have at least an intermediate level of MSA and who wish to learn Levantine Arabic, defined here as the Arabic spoken in the Holy Land, Western Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon; special attention is paid to the latter two areas. The wars in Iraq and Syria have changed the course of international relations in the 21st century. During these conflicts, hundreds of thousands have died and millions have been displaced. After 13 years, these conflicts continue with no end in sight. The central question of this course is: How do political science theories and methods help us understand the course of these wars? In this course, you will answer this question by integrating three elements: theory, data/description, and application of theory to data/description. The primary goal of this course is to bolster students’ skills in using various social science methods to explain important variations in violent conflict.
