This is a set of documents intended to teach 80% of the Qur'an to learners. The philosophy is that since many of the words in the Qur'an are repeated, 80% of it can be learned quickly and easily by knowing what to focus on. Included are lists of vocabulary separated into genre, such as pronouns and ways to say 'no', verbs and verb conjugation charts, grammar charts detailing active and passive participles, and more. Many of the documents are in PDF as well as in Excel so that changes can be made to the templates, i.e. translation into other languages if desired.

This lesson plan teaches students to elaborate on an event in a narrative by expanding their sentences into action chains. The result is a more detailed picture of an event in a narrative.

You may have been hearing a lot about the "singular they" recently. But what is it? How does it work, what is its history, and is it grammatical? Let's find out.

Demonstrative pronouns – this, that, these, and those – are used to replace nouns in sentences. Demonstrative pronouns are difficult to grasp for English language learners for many reasons. First, they all start with th, which is a hard sound for English learners to produce. Second, they are used in relation to the speaker, which often creates further confusion for students. The need for this particular grammar arises from the peculiar shape of the MDiv curriculum at Asbury Theological Seminary. Several years ago the faculty adopted a curriculum that required one semester of Greek and one semester of Hebrew, each as preparatory for a basic exegesis course in each discipline.

It became clear after several years of trial and error that a “lexical” or “tools” approach to learning Greek and Hebrew was inadequate, no matter how skilled the instructors or how motivated the students. In today's general vacuum of grammatical training in public education across the United States, students typically enter seminary training with no knowledge of how languages work. Any training we might give them in accessing grammatical information through the use of Bible software programs will, we learned, come to naught in the absence of an understanding of just what such information actually means. We agreed that we actually needed to “teach the language itself,” at least in some rudimentary fashion, if we hoped students would make sense of grammatical and linguistic issues involved biblical interpretation.

The first 12 chapters of this grammar are designed to correspond to the first semester's instructional agenda. In these chapters we introduce all the parts of speech, explain and drill the basic elements of grammar, set forth the larger verb system (excluding the perfect system), teach the tenses of the Indicative Mood only (again, excluding the perfect system), and help students build a vocabulary of all NT words occurring 100 times or more. We also lead students into the NT itself with carefully chosen examples, while at the same time guiding them in each lesson to learn the use of the standard NT lexicon [BDAG] and an exegetical grammar [Wallace's Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics]. We are well aware of the limitations of this approach, but genuinely believe that some instruction along these lines is better than none, and that such an approach provide a foundation for students interested in moving beyond the first semester (into chapters 13-24) into a firmer grasp of the language of the NT.

Sometimes we use reflexive pronouns like "myself" and "ourselves" for emphasis in a sentence, like, "If you won't help me, then I'll do it myself!" KA's Grammar Fellow, David, explains this usage.

This lesson focuses on treating others with respect regarding gender expression. In the lesson students use their culminating understanding of gender and gender expression to create paper dolls. Then they use the dolls to role play a respectful, affirming and inclusive approach to the gender expression of  themselves and others.

For rationale and defense, this relevance is also reinforced in the instruction by Dr. Rodgers. This DLO is designed to take learners through a media-based “Leo City,” where they will experience different levels of grammar activities with each character they meet in the world. As the learner improves their skills, their character will also power up and gain powers to be able to gain access to new sections of the city, until they reached the end.

It includes lots of visuals and pictures so students have a better understanding of how subject pronouns are used to describe people or things.
