As college freshmen transition into the higher education arena, student life becomes increasingly heavy and complex with work, academic, social, athletic, and other demands that can be difficult to manage. Depending on the number of courses a student is taking in the semester, there will be competing priorities depending on each classroom's expectations and assignments to be completed. Helping students to learn how to plan and prioritize their commitments is a critical lesson. Through the guidance of their instructor, students will learn time management skills by thinking about time-wasting behaviors that contribute to the inability to manage time effectively.

The following resource was shared by Jonas Lamb at the University of Alaska Southeast. Each year, Faculty Champions are recognized for their efforts to utilize Open Educational Resources (OER) or Affordable Educational Resources (AER) as required materials in their course(s). Increasing the use of OER is a strategic goal for Academics at UAS and use of OER and AER is recognized as as a form of academic leadership which advances innovation in teaching (a component of the UAS Value of Excellence) and learning with impact beyond UAS classrooms. The resources here are sample faculty recognition letter templates used to recognize faculty using OER and how the adoption of OER in their classroom has impacted students. You can learn more on their website.

Does it matter in education whether or not you’ve got a Y chromosome? You bet it does. In this discussion-based seminar, we will explore why males vastly outrank females in math and science and career advancements (particularly in academia), and why girls get better grades and go to college more often than boys. Do the sexes have different learning styles? Are women denied advanced opportunities in academia and the workforce? How do family life and family decisions affect careers for both men and women?

Photosynthesis is a process by which plants synthesize glucose and oxygen in presence of sunlight through light dependent reactions by utilization of sunlight, water to synthesize oxygen, ATP and NADPH and light-independent reactions to synthesize carbon dioxide and carbohydrates. Cellular respiration is a metabolic pathway that breaks down glucose through glycolysis, pyruvate oxidation, citric acid / Krebs cycle and oxidative phosphorylation. Primary producers produce energy and consumers derive energy from primary producers. Primary productivity is the accumulation of energy in form of biomass. Integrating biological science and mathematics helps to understand how differential regulation of factors impacting metabolic pathways and processes impact primary productivity.
