Designed specifically for Comprehensive School Counseling Program (CSCP) staff, this 5-part mini-series will guide participants through a project to address a gap that exists in their school’s student achievement, behavior, or attendance data.

"Growing scientific evidence suggests that gut fungi play a prominent role in the development of disease. To understand how the body mounts an immune response to certain fungi during disease, researchers developed a flow cytometry method called Fungi-Flow, which measures immune responses according to levels of IgG antibodies. The team measured the immune responses of various individuals to 17 commensal and environmental fungi.vIgG responses to different fungi varied strongly between healthy individuals, and Fungi-Flow proved sensitive enough to differentiate immune responses between the sporulated and budding forms of fungi. Experiments probing the composition of fungal communities revealed the presence of two distinct clusters, or ecosystems. Differences between the ecosystems were mainly driven by highly abundant fungi of the genus Saccharomyces but also by less abundant fungi such as Cyberlindnera..."

This module will provide tips for getting started with the work of aligning CSCP practitioner time with the 80/20 model described in Washington SB 5030: Comprehensive  School Counseling Programs, with emphasis on intentionally considering how to be both efficient and effective with 100% of our time. By the end of this module, learners will be able to: Define "direct services" and "indirect services" and provide appropriate examples of each Analyze their use of time related to direct/indirect services, system supports, fair share, and non-counseling activities Develop efficient and effective work schedules that align to the 80/20 model Share time analysis results with their adminstrator as an advocacy tool to move their CSCP in the direction of the ASCA National Model

School counselors use the ASCA National Model to design, implement, evaluate, and improve comprehensive school counseling programs. The first in a series of statewide webinars, in this session participants will gain an understanding of the requirements and opportunities related to SSB 5030. This includes insights into the legislation’s goals and implications. The webinar will explore how SSB 5030 aligns with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model. Participants will learn how the legislation supports and complements existing counseling frameworks snd discover practical ways to utilize the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI)’s CSCP District Self-Assessment and Template Tool to support districts in evaluating their implementation of SSB 5030 and planning for effective student support services.

All comprehensive school counseling programs include Tier 1 supports - provided within the larger context of a schoolwide MTSS - to promote students' academic, social/emotional, and college/career development.
