The 2024-25 FAFSA is the most significant revamping of the financial aid form since the 1980s. The U.S. Department of Education estimates the 2024-25 FAFSA will help 610,000 new students from low-income backgrounds receive federal Pell Grants and 1.5 million more students receive the maximum amount. However, significant delays with the U.S. Department of Education's rollout of the new FAFSA is affecting every college and university in the country, including all 34 Washington community and technical colleges.

So, what is this course all about?

This course walks you through techniques to incorporate Open Educational Resources (OER) into your teaching practice. The course will cover the fundamental aspects of OER including open licensing and public domain. It focuses on providing practical guidance in locating and applying openly available resources. It is expected that upon completion of this course participants will be able to

Describe the meaning of open educational resources.
Differentiate the concepts of open licensing, public domain, and all rights reserved copyrights.
Identify resources that are openly licensed or in the public domain.
Distinguish the different types of Creative Commons licenses.
License works using a Creative Commons license.
Find open educational resources and properly attribute a work offered under a Creative Commons license.

Apprenticeships are a great option for people who like to work with their hands and are ready to go to work. They combine classroom training (college credit courses) and paid on-the-job training and last one to five years. Apprentices are eligible for lower college tuition rates.
