Mathematical principles and processes specifically for elementary teachers. Includes problem solving, set theory, properties and operations with number systems. This course uses MyOpenMath.

Introduction to the theory and techniques of differential and integral calculus of elementary functions with emphasis on applications in business and finance, taught both online and in-person in Fall 2022 at Yavapai College. Note: Computer use and graphing calculator required (TI-83/84 recommended).This course makes use of an embedded OER textbook, but also uses Lumen OHM homework assignments; these require a subscription to Lumen, which in this instance was provided by the institution. In cases where that is not possible, the homework assignments will need to be replaced, or students will have to pay a fee to access the homework. This course introduces the theory that directs nursing skills and the development of nursing practice. These skills will help you to deliver care in a safe, patient-centered, and evidence-based manner.  We will be using the nursing process as a framework for the care and implementation of appropriate nursing interventions.  Basic to intermediate nursing skills are developed.  

Course DescriptionIntroduction to the concepts of psychosocial nursing care for clients throughout the life span. Emphasis on the use of the nursing process to assess and integrate therapeutic communication techniques, learning/teaching, psychosocial, diversity/cultural, spiritual, nutritional, pharmacological, legal and ethical issues. Introduction to adaptive and maladaptive, psychosocial and physiological responses related to commonly occurring psychological disorders as seen in the various healthcare settings. Integration QSEN competencies of patient-centered care, teamwork and collaboration, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, safety and informatics. Prerequisite: Admission to nursing program. Corequisite: NSG 140, NSG 142, NSG 143, NSG 145.

Professional Nursing Concepts is an 8 week hybrid course with 6 of the 8 weeks offered in person (the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, & 8th week) with the other 2 weeks asynchronous on Canvas. During this course we are going to review and expand upon topics that you have learned in your previous nursing courses such as prioritization, delegation, collaboration, etc. In addition we will begin to prepare you for the next steps starting your career as a new graduate nurse, where we will be learning the culture and expectations of the nursing profession, completing resumes, and NCLEX tips and application.

This course is an 8 Module:Investigation of ethical problems and solutions in contemporary business practice.Examination ethical theories and how to correctly use ethical decision-making frameworks to resolve issues dealing with personal, social, environmental, and corporate responsibility.Analysis of topics including personal morality in profit-oriented enterprises; codes of ethics; obligations to employees and other stakeholders; truth in advertising; whistleblowing and company loyalty; self and government regulation; the logic and future of capitalism; the changing responsibilities of the manager; and the need for awareness of social justice in management and business activities.
