This lesson plan focuses on helping high school students learn and understand cultural diversity, empathy, and online bias as concepts to develop through civil discourse. It promotes debate and sharing of ideas regarding the three different themes. It is intended for pre-intermediate English language learners (A2-B1 CEFR).

The Classroom Oral Competency Interview (COCI) exam tests for listening and speaking skills and is offered for any language. The exam can be administered to students in 6-12th grade as well as in college. The length of the exam is 5-7 minutes. The exam consists of a face to face interview and the result reported is a proficiency level.

The Classroom Writing Competency Assessment (CWCA) exam tests for writing skills and is offered for any language. The exam can be administered to students of all proficiency levels in 5-12th grade. The exam was designed to provide teachers with indicators of increases in student writing competency. Students produce a writing sample following a given prompt, which must be created based on the following format: context, text, function, and content.
