The Center for Advanced Language Proficiency Education and Research (CALPER) at the University of Pennsylvania is one of the fifteen Language Resource Centers established under Title VI of the U.S. Department of Education. According to the website, CALPER's particular focus is to improve the environment of advanced-level foreign language teaching and learning and assessment. The center thus far has developed innovative teaching materials, created online professional development resources, offered workshops for educators, and more.

The mission of the Center for Advanced Research on Language Aquisition (CARLA) is to study multilingualism and multiculturalism, to develop knowledge of second language acquisition, and to advance the quality of second language teaching, learning, and assessment. Some of the ways in which the center aims to achieve this mission is by conducting research and action projects in order to share research-based forms of knowledge.

The goal of the Center for Applied Second Language Studies at the University of Oregon is to improve the teaching and learning of foreign languages. Similar to other language resource centers, CASLS creates language learning and teaching materials, offers professional development opportunities, and conducts research on foreign language learning.

The Center for Educational Resources in Culture, Language and Literacy (CERCLL) at the University of Arizona is one of the 15 Language Research Centers established across the nation under Title VI of the U.S. Department of Education. CERCLL researches culture, language and literacy with less commonly taught languages. The center also strives to provide educators with teaching resources and opportunities for their professional development.

COERLL produces online language learning materials (for example language courses, reference grammars, assessment tools, and corpora) for teachers to adopt, adapt, modify, and share, and also provides professional development tools for teachers. You can browse materials on the COERLL website.

This curriculum focuses on child maltreatment issues and effective practice strategies among immigrant Asian families. Specifically, it elucidates demographic and behavioral characteristics of child abuse victims and perpetrators in four major immigrant Asian communities (Cambodian, Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese), factors contributing to the selection of two types of placement (in-home and out-of-home) by child protective services workers, and effective child welfare practice with immigrant Asian families. This resource is a professional development template for facilitating synchronous learning for educators based on shared reading of a book. This template showcases a book group focused on the essay anthology All We Can Save. Teachers read sections of the book in preparation for each of the four sessions, with the option to focus on specific chapters. Each session addresses a key theme through open-ended discussion prompts and an arts-based storytelling activity. In this template, presenters can reference a sample agenda for a book group session, including example prompts that were provided to participating teachers. We encourage you to adapt the structure and content to fit the needs of educators you support!

This resource is a professional development template for facilitating a hybrid professional learning community for educators. Through a combination of in-person gatherings, Zoom sessions, and asynchronous activities, teachers learn about climate justice and environmental justice topics that are relevant in their communities. They learn and collaborate with their peers in the CJL and are supported to design and implement a community action project with their students. This professional learning community was designed and facilitated in partnership with Stacy Meyer and Educational Service District 112.In this template, presenters can reference an outline of the learning experience. In addition, feel free to review "Climate Justice League - Community Action Project Examples" to get a sense of the types of projects that teachers implement, or to check out "Climate Justice Gallery Walk" as a sample learning activity. This professional development article identifies resources that show young learners (K-grade 5) how scientists study Earth's climate and make predictions. The online lessons either allow students to collect and analyze data or learn about tools and technologies that make data collection possible. The lessons are aligned with national content standards for science education. The article appears in the free, online magazine Beyond Weather and the Water Cycle, which examines the recognized essential principles of climate literacy and the climate sciences for elementary teachers and their students.
