Carrie and Kelly’s OER grant project will create open materials for Math 098. Community colleges throughout Oregon have been planning and implementing MTH 098 since 2014 based on recommendations from the developmental education redesign workgroup. The course was created to provide a shortened, more appropriate path for students to take MTH 105 and earn an Associate of Arts Transfer degree. Some institutions, such as Clackamas Community College, include the added benefit of allowing for MTH 105 to serve as a prerequisite to MTH 243, extending the pathway for students.
Their goal is to create materials that:
- Are learner-centered
- Readily integrate group work and collaboration
- Create opportunities for students to make critical thinking a habit of mind
- Acknowledge and respect common anxieties, personalities, and professional goals of students in the “alternate pathway”.

What is the purpose of this handbook?
The purpose of this handbook is to provide a shared resource for schools, districts, business,
industry, and community partners in support of a statewide effort to build a robust work-based
learning ecosystem in Oregon. The ultimate goals of supporting implementation of high quality
work-based learning are to ensure equitable learning outcomes for students, to connect
classroom learning with the world of work, and to strengthen community and school
partnerships.

The rubric can be used by teachers, administrators, and other individuals to design and deliver quality and equitable work-based learning experiences for students within a CTE Program of Study that will meet the secondary Perkins V program quality indicator. It can also be used as a resource to reflect on areas of strength and improvements and to adopt continuous improvement processes. Equity considerations are included
in the rubric to support the elimination of barriers to access and participation in work-based learning. The rubric is focused primarily on quality work-based learning experiences, not programs, and performance levels are aligned with the High Quality Program of Study Rubric for an approved CTE Program of Study.

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires each state to develop a state performance plan/annual performance report (SPP/APR) that evaluates the state’s efforts to implement the requirements and purposes of the IDEA and describes how the state will improve its implementation.
The SPP/APRs include indicators that measure child and family outcomes and other indicators that measure compliance with the requirements of the IDEA.
A state is required to submit a state performance plan (SPP) at least every six years. Each year, states must report against the targets in its SPP in an annual performance report (APR).

This platform is a specialized assessment process that engages students in brain games for nearly an hour total and provides detailed results of the students natural abilities, innate skills and examples of how the student might most successfully utilize their aptitudes and interests in preparation for career selection.
