Students will practice introducing themselves, greeting someone, and answering how they are doing. They will also learn greetings for different times of the day. Students will understand the cultural importance of la bise, how this particular form of greeting differs in distinct areas of France, and deepen their cultural insights into how to perform a ubiquitous French greeting. Students will also learn about the geopolitical divisions in France.

Through this Novice Level Interpretive Listening & Reading Activity we will get curious about the French education system, how levels and grades are organized and how this compares to our experience.

This activity includes a multiple-day lesson plan to engage students in awareness of their own ecological footprint, what simple actions young people are engaging in to minimize their imprint and how to makes steps towards living the ideal zero waste life. 

This tenth grade annotated inquiry leads students through an investigation of the French Revolution. Adolescent students are quite concerned with challenging authority and establishing their independence within the world; the concept of revolution brings those two concerns to their most world-altering levels. This inquiry gives students an entry point into thinking like historians about the French Revolution. The question of success invites students into the intellectual space that historians occupy. By investigating the question of the French Revolution’s success, students will need to make decisions about what the problems of the Revolution were, how to give weight to the events of three different periods of the Revolution, and what distance, if any, was between intentions and effects.

From Communication Apprehension to Relaxation and Emotion: How Including Indian Content in Speeches Facilitates Delivery

This OER will describe the journey of students taking the Public Speaking class at Aaniiih Nakoda College during the 2006-2014 period. In this OER, I share lesson plans as well as best practices learned, and how the inclusion of Indian content helped students to conquer their fear of public speaking and to share their sentiments about topics that mattered to them.

I wanted students to have authentic examples of these greetings before they practice them so I added some videos of Germans greeting each other in various forms. I also wanted to add German music playing in the background just to give students a feeling of being in Germany.

The students will be doing a pre-during-and post-reading activities about a Birkenstock plant opening in Pasewalk.  This activity is set for Novice Level.  Good to help understand German industry by discussing a popular cultural product.

Student will practice interpreting an authentic German schedule as well as describing their own school schedule based on the different days of the week. Students will practice discussing different school subjects and their daily schedule.

Students will be asked to interpret a menu, and using the information from the menu, be able to recommend foods based on the customers preference and allergies.
