A Framework for Analyzing any U.S. Copyright Problem
Conditional Remix & Share Permitted

One of the most difficult issues for educators, when faced with a copyright problem, is simply knowing where
to begin -- which parts of the legal rules and doctrines apply to the specific problem? To deal with this uncertainty, we suggest working through the following five questions, in the order they are presented. They are simple questions, but they are not easy to answer; by working through them in order, it is possible to identify which of the parts of copyright law apply to the specific problem or fact pattern that you need to address.

Fundamentals of Biology Research Project [Biology]
Conditional Remix & Share Permitted
CC BY-NC

0.0 stars

The goal of this initiative is to improve students' learning of the subject while developing their Inquiry and Problem-Solving competencies as well as their numeracy, written, digital and oral communication abilities. A flipped-class approach will be taken to present different topics ahead of the practical laboratory experiences. Topics will be presented with PowerPoints and/or videos posted on Blackboard. Students will be given a low stakes quiz at the beginning of each laboratory session to assess their knowledge and understanding of the posted material. A research project, introduced at the beginning of the semester, will be used as the backbone to integrate inquiry and problem-solving competencies to the laboratories. Each laboratory will explore a question/aspect outlined in the research project; students will be expected to work in pre-assigned groups and present individual written outputs, data, and analysis at the end of each laboratory session. Students will be expected to compile their results obtained during the semester, and make a digital/oral presentation at the end of the term. Students will collect background information and complete four written assignments; students will receive feedback on these assignments to allow for improvements and successful completion of the final presentations. Each individual student will also be required to write three laboratory reports. Collaborative work with group members will be essential for successful learning using an Inquiry and problem solving approach, although written reports will be marked individually, per the guidelines given in the assignments. The syllabus for the lecture component of these sections is identical to the syllabus of the standard versions of this course; the grading procedures for the laboratory component of the course are modified as described in the grading policy below.

Funeral Service Education Collaborative Glossary context
Unrestricted Use

0.0 stars

One of the biggest components of any Funeral Service Education course is the use of a glossary, full of vocabulary terms that must be learned, understood and memorized by students in order to pass the National Board Exam. To ensure that students engage with these vocabulary terms, it is common to assign them to write the definitions out. In order to improve accessibility to students and to encourage collaboration,

This is a spreadsheet that lists 200 terms from the content outlines provided by American Board of Funeral Service Education for Funeral Home Management and Small Business Management. This format allows for students to work together to define throughout the course. There is space for a contributor to add a definition, and for another contributor to add an example sentence.

This spreadsheet can be assigned to the entire class, dividing the 200 terms evenly between them, or it can be assigned to smaller groups. By the end of the term, everyone in the class will have a full glossary, created by them.

Latin America covers part of North America, South America and the West Indies. It stretches from Atacama desert to rugged highlands and Alpine glaciers of the Andes mountains, from the Rio Grande to Tierra del Fuego. The fertile plains of the Pampas is one of the world's richest agricultural regions. The Amazon Basin is the largest and wettest lowland in the world. Culturally, Latin America is a great mixture of European, indigenous and African cultures.

In this course, we will examine the peoples and places of Latin America from a geographical perspective. We will explore the geographical dimensions of economic, cultural, political, and physical forces influencing Latin America as a region. We will have a mixture of thematic and regional approaches to study the concepts and look into various physical and historical processes that have shaped dynamic and diverse cultural landscapes. We will study contemporary environmental and developmental issues, trends in migration, agricultural change, and globalization to understand Latin America's position in the global economy.

Learning Outcomes:
*Analyze and articulate geographic concepts related to the geography of Latin America, its physical environment, peoples, cultures, and history.
*Analyze changing political and economic relationships between the United States and countries in Latin America in order to be a more informed and engaged global citizen.
*Interpret maps, graphs, and visuals as tools for analyzing the distribution patterns of phenomena and understanding their importance.
*Evaluate how changing cultural, social, political, and economic characteristics of Latin American countries influence internal strife and external intervention.
*Understand the complexities that contribute to the social inequality, political conflict, and environmental concerns prevalent in some Latin American countries and discuss possible solutions.
